SEARCH PROCESSING METHOD AND APPARATUS

The result of initial search is acquired by search using a search keyword inputted by a searcher. On the other hand, an extended search keyword associated with the search keyword is extracted, and the number of corresponding documents or the frequency of appearance in the result of the initial search is counted. When the number of corresponding documents or the frequency of appearance is not larger than a predetermined value (including 0), the extended search keyword is adopted, and the result of the extended search is acquired by search using the search keyword and the extended search keyword adopted. Then, the result of the initial search and that of the extended search are presented to the searcher. Thereby, such a document as is buried in the result of the initial search can be presented to the searcher.
