<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inexpensively coupling a protecting tube for a ceramic glow pencil with the plug body of a glow plug. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this glow plug including the ceramic glow pencil 1, the protecting tube 2 surrounding the glow pencil 1, and the plug body 3 from which the protecting tube 2 projects, a sleeve surrounding the protecting tube 2 and welded to the protecting tube 2 is fitted to the plug body 3. Therefore, when the sleeve is pressure-fitted, there is no risk of damage to the ceramic glow pencil 1. When the protecting tube 2 is fitted together with the glow pencil 1, an appropriate material can be selected for the sleeve.
