PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device for suppressing the fogging of a vehicle window glass while allowing automatic stop of an engine when predetermined conditions are established, and for improving the drivability while improving the fuel consumption and protecting environment. SOLUTION: This vehicle control device includes fogging environment detecting means 57, 58 for acquiring environmental information for influences on the fogging of the window glass, and an air conditioning mode detecting means 61 for detecting the condition of changing over a vehicle air conditioner between an inside air introduction mode and an outside air introduction mode. In accordance with the fogging environment information and inside/outside air change-over information for an air conditioning mode, it controls an automatic stop period for the engine.
