PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a film capable of reducing even coarse projections having extremely low heights. SOLUTION: The method for forming the film includes a step for extruding molten thermoplastic resin in the shape of a sheet, a step for taking up the resin, and a step which discriminates the taken-up film into a non-defective and a defective to manufacture a product. In the method for forming the film, the number of coarse projections which is measured by the interference of the light having a wavelength of 100-400 nm on one surface of at least taken-up film is measured, and the film having the number of the coarse projections to be measured of the reference value or lower is made to be non-defective.
