PROCESS FOR PRODUCING LOW-SULFUR GAS-OIL BASE, AND LOW-SULFUR GAS OIL

A process for producing a gas-oil base by the hydrodesulfurization of a feed oil obtained by blending a straight-run gas oil with a catalytically cracked gas oil, in which the activity of a desulfurization catalyst can be maintained for long and the gas-oil base produced has a reduced sulfur content and an excellent hue. Provided is a low-sulfur gas oil which includes the low-sulfur gas-oil base obtained by the process. The process for producing a low-sulfur gas-oil base comprises hydrodesulfurizing a feed oil to a sulfur content of 10 mass ppm or lower, the feed oil being obtained by blending a straight-run gas oil with a catalytically cracked gas oil having a 10 vol.% running temperature less than 220ºC and a 90 vol.% running temperature less than 325ºC, so that the blending proportion of the catalytically cracked gas oil is 30 vol.% or lower. The low-sulfur gas oil is obtained by blending the low-sulfur gas-oil base with a kerosene base.
