<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed element for suppressing the entry of water and oxygen from the end faces. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sealed element includes: an element; a pair of flexible gas barrier films contacting each other at their ends while holding the element therebetween; and a barrier-providing member. In at least a portion of a region where the pair of gas barrier films contact each other, a recessed portion is provided.
