<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently take out light emitted by a light source outside in a liquid crystal display having a backlight light source which illuminates a liquid crystal panel from the back side. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display has the backlight light source, and includes: an optical slit which is arranged opposite to the backlight light source, passes only one of perpendicularly intersecting polarizing components and shields polarization in the other direction of light to be made incident from the backlight light source; and a reflection plate arranged in the surroundings of the backlight light source opposite to the optical slit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
