PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thread cutting device capable of cutting a thread while suppressing lateral width and continuously retaining a thread end. SOLUTION: The thread cutting device 1 in which a slit 27 for passing the thread is formed on one surface of a box body is provided with an electro-magnet mounting part 23b arranged opposed to a front surface of the box body; a core 15 of an electro-magnet mounted to the electro-magnet mounting part 23b such that one end surface is opposed to the front surface of the box body; an operation iron piece 16 and an attraction iron piece 13 having an attraction part 13a attracted to the electro-magnet and rocked in a horizontal direction making a fulcrum 19 provided on the electro-magnet mounting part 23b as a center; a cutting unit 12 mounted to a distal end of the attraction iron piece 13; and a spring 22 for urging the operation iron piece 16 and the attraction iron piece 13 in a direction in which the attraction part 13a is separated from the core 15 of the electro-magnet.
