<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition that suppresses development of cardiac diseases or cerebrovascular disorders, suppresses blood pressure elevation and is useful for preventing or treating hypertension, and food and drink or a pharmaceutical product containing the composition. <P>SOLUTION: The composition suppresses blood pressure elevation by an angiotensin II type 1 receptor antagonistic action of a garlic sprout (Allium sativum) leaf extract component, which represents leaves and stems of a garlic sprout, provided that the daily intake of the extract is around 0.01-10 g/kg body weight.
