PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF SEMISOLIDIFIED SLURRY OF IRON-BASE ALLOY; PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF CAST IRON CASTINGS BY USING THE PROCESS, AND CAST IRON CASTINGS
摘要
A process for the production of a semisolidified iron-base alloy slurry consisting of both a crystallized solid phase and a remaining liquid phase. The process comprises using a material having a hypoeutectic cast iron composition, adding an additive which has a boiling point lower than at least the crystallization initiation temperature of initial crystals of the material to the melt of the material when the melt temperature is within a prescribed range of the crystallization initiation temperature of initial crystals to the crystallization initiation temperature thereof plus 50°C, and thus conducting simultaneously both the stirring of the melt by the boiling of the additive and the cooling of the melt to a temperature falling within the semisolidification temperature range of the material.
