<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent current crowding in the overall LED and to improve light extraction efficiency by offsetting an effect due to a horizontally flowing current by making the effective length of a current flowing from an n-electrode pad to a p-electrode as uniform as possible. <P>SOLUTION: A light emitting element includes: a substrate 140; a second conductivity type semiconductor layer 130 on the substrate, an active layer 120 on the second conductivity type semiconductor layer; a first conductivity type semiconductor layer 110 formed on the active layer; and a first electrode 165 on the first conductivity type semiconductor layer, wherein a vertical distance between the first conductivity type semiconductor layer and second conductivity type semiconductor layer is varied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
