<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyol produced from a biological material. <P>SOLUTION: The polyol has a substituent of formula (I) attached via a carbon-carbon single bond to a saturated carbon atom in a fatty acid hydrocarbyl group; wherein R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are esterified residues of aliphatic or cycloaliphatic diols; and from 0 to 15 wt.% of esterified residues of at least one 4-12C acid anhydride, a 4-12C dibasic acid or a 4-12C lactone, excluding units of formula (I) attached to a fatty acid hydrocarbyl group. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
