PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoelectric conversion element which has an improved yield and improved durability, easily ensures a difference in temperature between both ends, is easily bonded to an electrode without tilting, and has improved mass productivity, and also to provide a thermoelectric conversion module using this thermoelectric conversion element. SOLUTION: A thermoelectric conversion element 2 is provided with: a plurality of pillar-like portions 22 which are spaced apart from one another with one end electrically connected with a first electrode plate 32; and a joining part 21 that joins the other ends of the pillar-like portions 22 and is electrically connected with a second electrode plate 31. The connection surface 21b that is connected with the second electrode plate 31 of the joining part 21 has a larger area than the total area of one ends 22a of each pillar-like portion 22.
