PURPOSE: A rechargeable battery and a module thereof are provided to prevent the increase of the voltage and the temperature of the battery by discharging the charged current from the battery without cutting off the power. CONSTITUTION: A rechargeable battery comprises the following: a case(14) including an electrode group(13); a cap plate(15) sealing the case; an outside insulator(16) and an inside insulator installed on the outside and the inside of the cap plate, respectively; electrode terminals(11,12) in which one is electrically insulated to the case, and the other is connected to the electrode group; an insulating layer(18) formed on the outside of the case; and a short circuit unit(40).
