PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe array type ultrasonic probe eliminating an image fluctuation even in the use by preventing abrasion of an acoustic matching layer and reducing the effect of a side lobe of unnecessary directional pattern. SOLUTION: This array type ultrasonic probe is provided with a plurality of piezoelectric vibrators 1 disposed with grooves 11a formed between respective adjoining vibrators, signal wires lead out from the plurality of piezoelectric vibrators, and the acoustic matching layer 3 superposed on the acoustic radiation face of the plurality of piezoelectric vibrators 1.
