PURPOSE: A channel estimation and compensation method and a system thereof in a mobile communication system are provided to reduce the amount of the memory usage for channel estimator and equalizer by using only memory which can store the data of one symbol. CONSTITUTION: A memory selectively stores the symbol of even number among subcarrier data consisting of even numbered symbols and odd numbered symbols(1). The channel estimator selects the pilot subcarrier of the odd numbered symbol and the pilot subcarrier data of even numbered symbol stored in the memory among the subcarrier data.
