Solid slag forming briquetted mixture for out of furnace treatment of cast iron contains lime and soda of the fraction of 5- at their ratio (lime to soda) in the range of 0.2 and 6.0. The mixture is supplied in the form of briquettes, pellets, pieces as one-component and as a mixture. Soda component additionally contains 4-8 % of organic or mineral carbon containing component.
