The invention relates to X-ray equipment which can be used for tomosynthesis and which can also be used to take lateral thoracic radiographs of a patient on a stretcher. For this purpose, the invention comprises a stationary column and a rotary base which can move vertically along the stationary column and which can rotate. The rotary base is associated with a fold-away panel and a base that supports an arm of the X-ray tube/collimator assembly and a detector. The equipment is characterised in that the arm of the X-ray tube can rotate independently of the detector and, in addition, the rotary base rotates on a shaft affixed to one of the sides of the stationary column, such that, once the assembly has been rotated, lateral thoracic radiographs can be taken without the patient having to be moved from the stretcher on which s/he has been transferred.
