<p>The method involves measuring physical magnitudes e.g. injected fuel temperature, representing mechanical and/or thermal solicitations to which a fuel injection device is subjected. Instantaneous damaging values are calculated according to a predetermined damaging rule and the measured physical magnitudes. The instantaneous damaging values are cumulated for obtaining a value indicating fatigue and wear of the fuel injection device.
