<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for suppressing tailing in addition to the securement of image quality of a horizontal line. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image forming part that forms a toner image on paper T based on input image information; a fixing part 9 that has a heating rotating body 9a and a pressure rotating body 9b which are opposed, and fixes the toner image on the paper T by conveying the paper T so as to hold it between the heating rotating body 9a and the pressure rotating body 9b; an entering position regulation means 900 that regulates a position where the paper T conveyed from the image forming part enters the fixing part 9; and an entering position changing means 920 that obtains a plurality of divided images by dividing the toner image, detects the horizontal lines consecutively extending by predetermined length in a direction orthogonal to a direction D1 in which the paper T is conveyed through the fixing part 9 for each divided image, and changes the entering position where the paper T enters the fixing part 9 to the heating rotating body 9a side by operating the entering position regulation means 900 when a part or all of the area, length, width and number of the horizontal lines are equal to or above a predetermined threshold.
