<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid car for making it easy to continue traveling based on a driving force requested for traveling when an abnormality, in which it is not possible to output a power from an electric motor to a driving shaft, occurs, and to provide a method for controlling the hybrid car. <P>SOLUTION: When a gas pedal is turned off in a state that the abnormality, in which it is not possible to output a power from a second motor to a ring gear shaft as a driving shaft, does not occur, and when conditions, for suppressing the deterioration of the catalyst of a purifying device including the fact that the temperature of the catalyst becomes equal to or more than a prescribed temperature, are met, the explosive combustion of an engine is continued. When the abnormality occurs, regardless of the fact whether or not the conditions for suppressing the deterioration of the catalyst have been met, the fuel cut of the engine is executed and traveling based on request torque Tr* is continued when the gas pedal is turned off (S320, S350 to S410).
