PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve quality of sewing by supplying the needle thread appropriately. SOLUTION: The sewing machine include a needle vertical movement mechanism of a needle bar 12, a balance 14 which performs reciprocating operation synchronizing with vertical movement of the needle bar, a needle thread hauling mechanism 40 which performs thread hauling by the needle thread hauling member 41, a cloth feed mechanism 50 which moves the material to be sewn with an arbitrary quantity of movement synchronizing with the needle bar, an operation control means 70 which controls cloth moving motors 52, 53 so that the material to be sewn moves with a quantity of movement set at the time of sewing in advance, and a data memory which stores the sewing pattern data which determines the quantity of needle thread hauling. The thread hauling mechanism has a thread hauling motor 44 for moving the needle thread hauling member, and the operation control means controls the thread hauling motor so that the needle thread hauling member moves with an arbitrary quantity of setting during sewing according to the sewing pattern data.
