PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus including a platen provided with a suction-collection section which collects ink, wherein image quality deterioration due to cockling caused by the insufficient suction force in the suction-collection section on the inside of a recording medium is prevented, and also, image quality deterioration at the end portion of the recording medium caused by excessive wind speed in the suction-collection section on the outside of the recording medium is prevented. SOLUTION: The inkjet recording apparatus includes the platen provided with the suction-collection section which sucks in and collects the ink left outside the end portion of the recording medium. The inkjet recording apparatus includes: a collecting suction force generation means configured to enable the suction-collection section to generate suction force; a collection flow path connecting the suction-collection section to the collecting suction force generation means; and a flow path control means configured to vary the opening area of the collection flow path.
