The method involves reading a voltage signal associated to a resistance stain gauge (14) by an evaluation unit (16) at a preset time period, and testing a threshold value condition depending on a predetermined threshold value and the voltage signal. A horn signal is outputted by the evaluation unit when the condition is fulfilled. The condition is tested and the horn signal is outputted by determining a compensated voltage signal from the voltage signal and a predetermined compensation value and comparing the compensated voltage signal with the predetermined threshold value.
