<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a cleaning means including a heat roller capable of efficiently performing cleaning of a thermal head. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has at least a means for conveying a medium to be transferred and an image writing means for forming an image by using one or more thermal heads and heat transfer ribbons on the medium to be transferred, and the thermal heads 44-1 are provided on a thermal head unit.
