Class 109 A rope cleaning device comprises a pair of scraper blades 1 and 4, each of which is carried by a pair of angle members which are cut and bent and assembled upon studs 9 and 10 in a frame 11 so as to allow pivotal movement to the blades. Springs 7 and 8 upon each of the studs co-operate with the angle pieces to urge the blades towards each other. Arcuate slots B are cut in the blades to encompass part of the circumference of the rope which is gripped and drawn between the blades as shown in Fig. 2. A pair of such devices may be mounted in tandem but with their axes at 90 degrees to each other.
