PROCESS FOR PRODUCING BIOFUEL FROM ALGAE

PURPOSE: A method for producing a biofuel using sea algae is provided to produce mixture alcohol at high yield using organic ingredient including protein and lipid. CONSTITUTION: A method for producing biofuel from sea algae comprises: a step of fermenting sea algae under anaerobic condition to obtain organic acid; a step of esterifying the organic acid to obtain ester; and a step of adding hydrogen to ester to obtain mixture alcohol. The fermentation is performed by culturing anaerobic microorganism in a medium composition containing inorganic salt. The sea algae are brown algae, red algae, or green algae. The mixture alcohol contains ethanol, propanol, and butanol.
