The vibrator has a centrifugal mass (2) adjustably mounted relative to a carrier (1) i.e. axle. A magnet (3) is arranged at the carrier or at the mass in a non-adjustable manner and exhibits polarized end sections. A coil arrangement (4) is arranged at the mass or at the carrier in a non-adjustable manner. The coil arrangement includes two energizable coils (4a, 4b) that are connected in series to each other in opposite directions, where current flows through the coils in the opposite directions by a driving circuit. The magnet is surrounded with the sections in a basic position. An independent claim is also included for a method for energizing a vibrator.
