<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and thin input device of long life suitable for various applications such as the Internet, a music player and electronic mail, and electronic equipment using the same. <P>SOLUTION: This input device is achieved which can perform a function of a jog dial by operating a rotation operation part 54 using a ring-like magnet 50 magnetized in multiple poles, magnetic sensors 41 to 45, a magnetic flux shielding plate 52 and the like, and a function of a pointing device by operating a pointing operation part 49. A magnetic flux density change including both the N-pole and the S-pole generated by rotation of the ring-like magnet is detected using a part or all of the magnetic sensors, and a magnetic flux density change in either of the N-pole or the S-pole generated by movement of the magnetic flux shielding plate is detected using a part or all of the magnetic sensors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
