摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing a harmful substance in all diesel exhaust irrespective of the size of a diesel with one process, in the light of such a problem that it is difficult to maintain the performance over a long term because of trouble such as clogging, or such a problem that any of the conventional system can not be applied to the cleaning of diesel exhaust of the large-size diesel because, in the conventional cleaning of diesel exhaust, the process which depends on DPF or expensive metal catalyst technique exclusively intended for a small-size diesel is developed, or such a problem that any of the conventional system can not be applied to the cleaning of diesel exhaust of a large-size diesel. <P>SOLUTION: A fluidized bed of powder of high carbon ferromanganese (FMnH) which is kept at a temperature of 300 to 400&deg;C in a diesel exhaust path is formed, PM is ignited and combusted by allowing the exhaust to contact with the FMnH, NO<SB>X</SB>can be decomposed by reduction and SO<SB>X</SB>can be removed by adsorption. When adopting a multi-stage fluidized bed system, reaction proceeds more perfectly and installment area of an apparatus is also reduced. Further, a horizontal multi-chamber fluidized bed system can be fitted to an automobile.
