In a machining unit (10) with a rotatable head (12) having a series of radial, selectively operable tool-carrier mandrels (13), each with its own clutch boss (34), a plurality of radial cooperating clutch members (32) are drivingly coupled to a motor, mounted in the body of the machining unit (10) and each provided to engage with a clutch boss (34) of a mandrel when a clutch boss (34) comes into alignment with a clutch member (32) so as to transmit drive to the mandrel (13); in this state of alignment the other clutch bosses (32) are out of alignment with the other clutch members (34).
