<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a touch panel with improved position detection accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: The touch panel includes: a first electrode having first electrode patterns formed by connecting electrode pieces of a predetermined shape in a first direction and arrayed in a direction crossing the first direction; a second electrode having second electrode patterns formed by connecting electrode pieces of a predetermined shape in a second direction and arrayed in the first direction; and a position detecting means for determining a gravity center position of a detection output indicating an electrostatic capacitance of each of the first electrode patterns, and that indicating an electrostatic capacitance of each of the second electrode patterns, to be output as a position detection result. The shape of the electrode piece is determined so that a difference between areas of the individual electrode pieces concerned, is smaller compared with when the individual electrode piece is a polygon having a plane formed of the same shape, between when the whole individual electrode piece contributes to formation of the electrostatic capacitance corresponding to a target object and when the target object contributes to the formation of the electrostatic capacitance when approaching the middle of the electrode piece belonging to the adjacent two electrode patterns. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
