<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission and reception module which can perform demultiplexing in a wafer level with a simple structure and which can be reduced in size by decreasing the thickness in an optical axis direction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A spectral element 1 includes a first surface 10 disposed facing an optical fiber 4 and a second surface 11 constituting an opposite surface of the first surface 10. A light receiving part 3 and a light emitting part 2 are disposed facing the second surface 11 of the spectral element 1. The first surface 10 of the spectral element 1 includes a first filter 14 reflecting light from the optical fiber 4. The second surface 11 of the spectral element 1 includes a second filter 15 transmitting the light from the light emitting part 2 and reflecting the light from the optical fiber 4, a third filter 16 transmitting only the light of a first wavelength, and a fourth filter 17 transmitting only the light of a second wavelength.
