PURPOSE: A device for supporting variable packet composition and process in a wireless communication system and a method for the same are provided to variably generate common header and extension header according to extension header type in a terminal and variably interprets the common header and the extension header within a received packet according to the extension header type in a base station, thereby reducing the transmission of necessary information. CONSTITUTION: A common header includes a EH(Extended Header Presence Indicator) field(200), a Flow ID(Flow Identifier) field(202) and length field(204). The EH field indicates the existence of extension header behind the common header. A flow ID filed indicates a corresponding service flow. The length field shows length of payload within a MAC(Medium Access Control) layer packet. The length field can include information different from length information of the payload according to the extension header type.
