PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for suppressing the degradation of image quality due to the fluctuations of a resistance value, even when environmental conditions are changed. SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus 10, when it is in such a state that electric power is applied to each apparatus section of the image forming apparatus 10 during the execution of image formation processing, a processing routine shown by (the Fig.2) is executed for each predetermined time, a supply absorption roll 26 supplies an ion conductive agent or the ion conductive agent is absorbed from a transfer roll 24 to the supply absorption roll 26, so that the transfer roll 24 maintains a previously set reference resistance value, according to environmental temperature and humidity installed in the transfer roll 24. Therefore, the transfer roll 24 keeps a stable reference resistance value, because the transfer roll is not affected by the fluctuations of the environmental temperature and humidity.
