PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic imaging apparatus capable of shooting a photograph intended by a photographer when the photographer himself or herself also becomes an object. SOLUTION: The automatic imaging apparatus includes: a face detection part 14 configured to detect a face of a person included in an object; an apparatus operation part 16 configured to instruct a self-timer to start; and a control part 17 configured to measure the distance from the automatic imaging apparatus to the face detected by the face detection part to set a distance range for permitting imaging based on the measured distance, and measure, when a new face is detected by the face detection part after the self-timer is instructed to start by the apparatus operation part, the distance to the new face to cause the automatic imaging apparatus to image it when the measured distance is within the distance range.
