PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the display start of a live view image even from being delayed while having a function of vibrating an optical member disposed in front of an imaging element. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 200 has a live view mode and an optical finder mode. The apparatus includes a vibration means 133 for vibrating the optical member 132 disposed in front of the imaging element 112, an operation means 127 for supplying power of the imaging apparatus, and an imaging mode setting means 128 for setting the imaging mode of the imaging apparatus. A control means 123 starts the display of the live view image without performing the vibrating operation of the optical member corresponding to the operation of the operation means when the imaging mode of fixing a finder mode to the live view mode is set, and turns the finder mode to the optical finder mode and performs the vibrating operation of the optical member corresponding to the operation of the operation means when the imaging mode of not fixing the finder mode to the live view is set.
