POLYPEPTIDES FOR THE PREVENTION OR TREATMENT OF MALARIA

The present invention relates to the protection against malaria and to polypeptides suitable in this respect. More particularly, the invention relates to polypeptides, especially chimeric ones, which are suitable for the prevention or treatment of malaria. Said polypeptides are derived from particular motifs of the C-terminal region of Plasmodium proteins choosen among MSP3-1, MSP3-2, MSP3-3, MSP3- 4, MSP3-7 and/or MSP3-8. The invention also pertains to immunogenic compositions and vaccines against malaria, comprising as an immunogen a polypeptide of the invention, to a polynucleotide coding for a polypeptide of the invention as well as a cloning and/or expression vector comprising said polynucleotide, and their use in a medicament or a nucleic acid vaccine against Plasmodium.
