A blood pressure gauge for measuring a blood pressure in accordance with a volume compensation method. The blood pressure gauge determines an upper-arm V0-corresponding cuff pressure which represents a cuff pressure in the state in which the internal pressure of the artery of the upper arm and the external pressure are in equilibrium according to the cuff pressure signal of the upper arm (ST4). The upper-arm V0-corresponding cuff pressure is detected as, for example, an average blood pressure obtained from the cuff pressure signal of the upper arm. When a control target value used in the volume compensation method and the initial cuff pressure are detected (ST5), the difference between the initial cuff pressure and the upper-arm V0-corresponding cuff pressure is calculated as a correction value (ST6), and the blood pressure determined in accordance with the volume compensation method is corrected using the calculated correction value (ST11).
