<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress delay in the response of a change in a mechanical compression ratio when an engine load after stopping of fuel cut control is lower than the engine load before starting of the fuel cut control, in an internal combustion engine including a variable compression ratio mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: The mechanical compression ratio is previously increased during the fuel cut control, when it is predicted during the fuel cut control that the engine load after stopping of the fuel cut control is lower than the engine load before starting of the fuel cut control. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
