PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon fiber-containing coating film which has extremely high adhesion to a substrate, and highly exhibits wear resistance, thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity, which are originally possessed by the carbon fiber. SOLUTION: The carbon fiber-containing coating film is obtained by applying a coating composition containing carbon fibers and a binder component to the surface of a substrate to form a coating layer and firing the coating layer at a temperature equal to or higher than the decomposition temperature of the binder component contained in the coating layer. The carbon fiber-containing coating film contains the carbon fibers in a ratio of 1.5-70 mass% based on the total mass of the coating film.
