<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document camera that improves ease of operation of a user when displaying an image imaged by a document camera on an image display, and to provide an image display system. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The document camera includes an operation unit 105 and a control unit 101. The operation unit outputs a display start command signal for allowing image data to be transmitted to a projector 200 and a temporary stop command signal for temporarily stopping the transmission of the image data to the projector 200. If the display start command signal is input, the control unit outputs a display request signal for displaying the image data, transmitted from the document camera 100, to the projector 200. If the temporary stop command signal is input, the control unit outputs image data during the temporary stop to the projector 200, and also, outputs a temporary stop request signal for temporarily stopping the display of the image data, transmitted from the document camera 100, to the projector 200.
