<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory card socket shared among a plurality of kinds of memory cards and making a contact state a contact with a contact pad suitable for exhibiting performance of various memory cards when the memory cards are mounted. <P>SOLUTION: When a conventional SD memory card MC1 not having second contact pads P10-P13 is held in a socket body 3, first contact pads P3, P6 and second contacts C10-C13 are insulated by insulators 83, 83 since the insulators 83, 83 are interposed between the first contact pads P3, P6 and the second contact C10-C13, wherein the insulators are displaced from a conductive position to an insulating position with movement of a slide bar 8.
