<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL element which operates at a low voltage. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This EL element includes an anode (101), an electroluminescent film (103) containing an organic compound which provides electroluminescence, a floating electrode (104) provided on the electroluminescent film, an electron transport auxiliary layer (105), and a cathode (102) provided on the electron transport auxiliary layer. The floating electrode includes an insulating film provided on the side in contact with the electroluminescent film, and a conductive film provided on the side in contact with the electron transport auxiliary layer.
