<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress image defects, in a fixing device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The fixing device includes: a rotating fixing roller 1; a pressure roller 2 coming into press-contact with the fixing roller 1; and an external heating unit 13 rotatably supported so that it comes into contact with the surface of the fixing roller 1 to heat the fixing roller 1, wherein a recording paper is conveyed to between the fixing roller 1 and the pressure roller 2 and a toner image on the recording paper is fixed on the recording paper by heat transferred from the fixing roller 1. Further, the fixing device includes a scraper 7 coming into contact with the surface of the external heating unit 13 to scrape dust adhering to the surface of the external heating unit 13 and a conveying mechanism 25 conveying the dust scraped by the scraper 7 and accumulated on the scrapper 7.
