A brake control apparatus includes an electric power supply (206), a fluid pressure source (14) whose operating fluid pressure fluctuates by a driver's operation, a wheel cylinder (20) for applying a braking force to a wheel using an operating fluid supplied from the fluid pressure source (14), a control valve (27) provided between the fluid pressure source (14) and the wheel cylinder (20) and mechanically opened by a differential pressure when a higher pressure is applied to the fluid pressure source (14) than to the wheel cylinder (20), and a control portion (200) for opening/closing the control valve (27) through a control current. The control valve (27) is a normally open valve that is closed through a prescribed control current set not to mechanically open the control valve by the differential pressure during normal braking. The control portion (200) closes the control valve through a control current smaller than the prescribed control current when the electric power supply is in a low-voltage state. |
