<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combine harvester capable of preventing the output of an engine from being consumed vainly for the drive of a thresher in direction change at the butt of a field, manual operation or the like, and capable of securing a traveling driving force without enlarging the engine. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The combine harvester includes a traveling machine body having a traveling unit 2, the engine 20 mounted on the traveling machine body, a reaping device 3, and a thresher 5 having a threshing cylinder 226 and selection mechanisms 227 and 228, and is provided with threshing cylinder speed-regulating means 74 in a driving path for transmitting the power of the engine to the threshing cylinder. The combine harvester has a structure including a waste straw sensor 106 for detecting the waste straw discharged from the thresher, and is constituted so that when the waste straw sensor 106 detects the absence of the waste straw, each of the threshing cylinder and the selection mechanisms may be regulated so as to be stopped based on the result detected by the waste straw sensor 106.
