A method for wiring of an air conditioner enabling improvement of signal degradation due to the wiring length and branches. After the power supply is turned on, the own switch element of each outdoor unit is turned on and connected to a central line (S1). A central controller determines a parent machine for performing address setting out of the outdoor units (S2). The outdoor unit serving as the address setting parent machine sets the addresses of all the outdoor and indoor units in ascending order of, e.g., the serial number (S3). If the address setting is not ended within two minutes, the outdoor unit (2) serving as the address setting parent machine turns off the own switch on assumption that the length of the wiring or the branched state may involve a problem (S6). In other words, one system to which the address setting parent machine belongs is separated from the central line. Until the address setting is ended within two minutes, one system is repetitively separated from the central line. If the address setting is normally ended within two minutes, the worker installs extension adaptors to all the separated systems (S5). |
