Communication system and communication method for reliable communication with communication participants

The system has field bus masters (1-1, 1-2) for controlling communication with communication participants. Network components (2-1 - 2-n) e.g. switches, are connected with the field bus masters by a physical communication connection (3). The communication participants are connected with the field bus masters by logical communication connections (4-1-1 - 4-n-2). The physical communication connection is formed as a field bus and an industrial wireless local area network. The logical communication connections are formed as a primary-communication connection and a back-up communication connection. An independent claim is also included for a communication method for reliable communication with communication participants.
