PURPOSE: An energy-saving electric soldering iron is provided to prevent the consumption of effective power and quickly increase the temperature by cutting off the power supply while not in use. CONSTITUTION: An energy-saving electric soldering iron comprises an iron body(110), a handle part(120), a pressure sensor(130), a temperature sensor(140), a mounting part(150), a high frequency induction heating coil(160), a power supply unit, and a controller. The controller determines whether the iron is in use or not based on the pressure outputted from the pressure sensor and controls the power supply unit according to the determination result. If the iron is not in use, the power supply to a heating part(111) of the iron body is cut off. If the iron is in use, power is supplied to the heating part of the iron body until the temperature output from the temperature sensor reaches the preset soldering temperature.
